James is currently the Vice President of Research and Innovation with Flotek Chemistry. He has over 15 years of research experience investigating the physics and chemistry of surfactants and polymers in the areas of personal care products, bioengineering, and the oil industry. James was an assistant professor of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University before joining Flotek. He earned a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Delaware, and was a NIH Ruth L Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Pennsylvania in Bioengineering.
